One of my favorite things in the ENTIRE world is when one of my horses kisses my hand with soft flickering lip/muzzle action!! Love the highlights, the different color definitions, the dark nostrils outlined with a soft white fur, the whiskers oh so pointed! I hope your horse muzzles you! :)

South Carolina is home to many different horse enthusiasts, of all disciplines. They consist of eventing, dressage, polo, etc. I am sure you can tell, that I absolutely love horses.
I respect that every discipline in the horse world may have a different point of view than mine. Whether it be what they call in the horse world, "aids." That could be a crop, a whip, a bit, a saddle, spurs, etc. BUT, me personally, I wish that the person that uses the "aids" learns how to be gentle (if in fact they insist on having them in the first place.) To me, the worst of tools, is the riders "hands." Which leads me to the Sport of Kings. POLO. Being in the crowd watching the game of polo is a lot of fun. But, unfortunately, what you do not see, is the pain that is inflicted on the horse during the game. Having a long lens that can capture the faces of the horse as the rider pulls the reins in a fast turn, pulling the bit up into the mouth of the horse, and the eyes tell you ALL. But, the crowd doesn't see this. I did. Now you do. Wouldn't it be a much better sport, if all of the money that is paid for a polo pony be in their training to a rider's leg? The polo rider could turn his head, move his foot to a different angle, and his horse would respond to the right, the left, to a trot to a gallop all in one motion. He then could be free to use his polo stick and not worry about handling the reins. To me, these photographs are just cruelty, and abuse. My opinion. Click on the photograph below. Then click on it again to reach the 24 photographs in this gallery. I would love to hear your opinion! Below is a beautiful polo pony all tacked up and ready to ride... Happy New Year to everyone. 2013 will be great because we are all still alive, and can plan our day! I hope that we all have many more days, and many more years here to enjoy this beautiful time here on earth. So, thinking of what I appreciate, oh so many things. Thinking of my cat, named Murry. He is a CAT. I went to a New Years Day gathering today where there was a CAT that was not just a CAT. Her name was "Princess." A beautiful, white luxurious haired gal. Ok, queen. She knew, she was a Princess. She licked her paw and cleaned her nose in the most delicate of way. She nuzzled up to me and purred.
In my younger/youth days, I loved to listen to stories on an album playing as I fell to sleep. (Album?) One of the stories I loved and listened to time and time again but could never really understand, was Just So Stories by Rudyard Kipling "THE CAT THAT WALKED BY HIMSELF" Here is a quote from it: "The Dog was wild, and the Horse was wild, and the Cow was wild, and the Sheep was wild, and the Pig was wild—as wild as wild could be—and they walked in the Wet Wild Woods by their wild lones. But the wildest of all the wild animals was the Cat. He walked by himself, and all places were alike to him." _____________ There I was today, sitting with a "Princess" kitty. I then came home to a CAT. Murry was crunching on a mouse, and enjoying the FIRST of his new year 2013. For he is a cat, and that is what (they) he does. He is WILD. Can you see it in his eyes? I wonder what he would do if he met "Princess." ? :O Rudyard Kipling |
