The first horse that entered my life was Gator. He is pictured below. He is a Missouri Fox Trotter. He has the BIGGEST soul of any creature human or otherwise, that I have ever met. He came into my life on the anniversary of my husband, George's passing. It was a SIGN.
Gator is 22 years old and FULL of soul. He has had many ups and downs, and even as I type this, today is a challenge too. Love is a very interesting thing. When you mature, and get wise, you will understand that it isn't about the package before you. The skin, the fur, what have you. It's about what is INSIDE. If we are lucky, we will all grow old and our packaging will show it. We may not be very appealing, even to ourselves. But, then the lesson in life will hopefully be learned. It's about what is INSIDE. Your spirit, your soul. That's what will be left when we become dust. That's what we are all about. It's not the pretty or the handsome. Or the $50,000 horse. It's the LOVE, the LOVE, to death us do part. In honor of the passing of my husband, George, Gator and I honor you. I miss your SOUL so much. Your spirit is in me. Twelve years ago today, at ten to twelve, my heart broke. But, my soul remains. :O |
