Would you, if you could, have the heart of a lion? The brain of an elephant? An eye of an eagle? Maybe, we were born the way we are for a reason. I was thinking about that this morning as I watched my dogs running through the pasture stopping to smell all that they could. If one smelled something, the other was quickly on its heels to also breathe in the intoxicating scent. Intoxicating is right. Somehow, even though their sense of smell is way keener than ours, they LOVE the stinky stuff. They then can't let it be with just that, a good roll in it is sometimes necessary to carry the perfume with them. Bring it on home to MOMMA! Yea, right. Smells. Fragrance. AROMA.
Yep, it's true, those scents have a way of permeating our brain with a memory attached to it. To this day, the scent of lemon verbena has the UTMOST reaction to my goose bumped skin than anything else. Maybe, it is because it belongs to one mean, red faced, lemon gagging cloud that surrounded my first grade teacher Sister Mary Elizabeth. My palms are sweating just typing this... Back to this morning's romp, I decided that even though I am very fond of my neighbor, some days I can't stand her. I think this morning was one of them. I mean, who in the world on a MONDAY morning cooks bacon and eggs. I think she likes to open up her windows and uses a fan to blow the stomach growling smells my way. "Take THAT Laurie!" "Tomorrow it will be blueberry pancakes!" hahahahhaha... Nasty, isn't she? Maybe, that's why there is the saying "wake up and smell the coffee!" So, I know, you know, that the nose knows, everything. :O Now, compare YOUR nose, to the nose below. Ours is pretty darn boring. :)
