I have only photographed two polo games here in Aiken. From the photographs, me personally, worry about the horses. Yes, I realize they are athletes, and that this is a sport. But, so many of the photographs I have taken are very graphic, and have detail of the horse's mouths being in pain. The one below though, I found to be very different. The rider's rein's are loose in the horse's mouth. This means that there isn't a pull or vice grip contracting the metal bit up into the roof of the horse's mouth to cause pain. These two, are working as a team. Just look at that ball. Then, look at the eyes of the rider, his balanced seat on the horse, the loose grip of the reins, and last but NOT least, where the horse's eyes are focused. Where are they? Right on the BALL. Love it. Team work.

Going back and looking at photographs from a photo shoot is interesting. A ton more interesting when you see a photograph that you (me) have over looked. Now knowing the background of these two horses in the photo make this one, incredibly special. At least to me.
If you looked at the last gallery that I posted below, you would have seen that a young colt that has never been separated from his mother (the mare) was a huge, anxiety process. So, coming across this photograph tonight, was surreal. Here, below, you can see the young colt. But, look in the background... The Mother/mare still taking care of him. Still watching over him. As, we do in our own lives. Always, ALWAYS - taking care of the children. Let's look at this photo. Love that the ears are upright in both horses. Look at the depth of the black rusty hole in their ears. The manes, are parted in the same way across the front of the eyes. The blaze (the white part of the fur that goes down the middle to the nose) is almost the same for the colt and his mother! Just have to make a mention on the colt thinking to the present and future here. The Mother, all wise, in the background, taking a lovingly look of happiness for him, but also, a loss. She is not ready to have him out of her life. Are we ever ready? Click on the below photograph to be taken to a new workshop photo shoot! Enjoy! If there is trouble getting there, hyou can always access it by going to the above tab, Portfolio gallery and purchasing and looking for the link. It was a great weekend at Julie Robin's Dragon Fly Farm and her Confidence with Obstacles Clinic/workshop. Then, there was a free 45 minute demonstration of "The five secrets to great ground manners." She worked with a young colt that had never been separated from it's Mother. It all turned out so great, as you will see in the photographs.
How about, a cowboy? How about the nose of the horse just down buried in the grass between the cowboy's/wrangler's boots? I love it. The jeans a bit long and scrunched up above his boots. The tender bent of the MALE FORCE in this photo caring enough to be taking such good care of this mare. The rope in his hand so relaxed. His thumb is barely on it, but the rope is there giving the photograph a COWBOY feel. Is that it? A cowboy sensitive side? What do you think?
A beautiful horse named "Keegan." A race horse that was adopted by a very caring person! But, I think, she was the lucky one. Just look at his beautiful head, the perfectly sculpted nose, the rust color above his nose, the eyes so intense and looking straight into your soul and heart. The mane flowing! OH my! Keegan
